Friendly wager

From: jose_quiti (jose_quiti@yahoo.com) | Date: 2005-10-12 21:38:33 UTC
WINK had a great idea posted on AQ. A friendly boxing wager between
White Sox and Angels fans. I would like to make a similar wager with a
Michigan Wolverine. (Yes, I'm a Ohio State Buckeye!)
The deal is if the Wolverines win the big game, I will place a "Go
Blue" letterbox in Columbus. But, if OSU wins, the lucky Wolverine must
place an "O-HI-O" box in Ann Arbor.
So...any takers?

If the Yankees aren't playing, who cares.

Baseball is over. It's football time.

Hey,
A little credit is due to Red Sox fans Archimedes' Screw and Cape Cod
Lightning Bug who, in response to an email from Wink suggesting a
wager of some sort, offered a White Sox letterbox if his Sox beat our
Sox. We mailed "Go Sox (of the White Variety)" to Wink today to plant
near his home. As a bonus we included a hitchhiker that would appeal
to Sox fans of both colors. So, go baseball letterboxing in Upstate
New York soon and go Sox (or any other team who are NOT the Yankees)!

White Sox?! Huh! Since the Cubs lost, I'm rooting for the Astros.

We would have gladly made you a Cubs letterbox. Maybe we can wager
next year for the World Series. Go Nomar!

I thought the deal was the loser had to plant the winners team on the
losers home turf....doesn't sound like that to me.

The great thing about being a Cubs fan is that it's ok to lose :-) We kinda
expect it 'cause of the curse. But there's always that little glimmer of
hope- my dream is to see them take the pennant in my lifetime, and I figure
I've got about 40 years left ...........

The orginional deal was we'd send a box to Wink so he could bask in
his victory (or he to us). Maybe he was afraid the White Sox would go
all the way and he'd have to sepnd the fall hiding boxes all over NY.

Oh, I SO remember that feeling. My first words as it approached
midnight last October 27th when the last out was made in the 2004
World Series were, "What am I going to do with the rest of my life?"
since I had spent 50 years wishing and hoping for a Red Sox
championship. No worries, the Sox started to make me mad (in an
I-love-them-sort-of-way) all over again this year. Only, this time we
can't blame the Bambino.
There's always next year...

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I have limited access to
this group. Anyway...sounds like I have a deal with TrailTroll for the
best Big 10 game of the season. Woohoo :)
